The Luxembourg National Data Service (LNDS) is an established and financed organization by the Luxembourgish government in November 2022. Our mission is to facilitate and promote the generation of value from public sector data in Luxembourg (and support at the Europe level), aligning with the government's vision to position the country as a leader in the data economy. 

 

Collaborating closely with public stakeholders and industry partners, we create data spaces to enable efficient and responsible data reuse, playing a vital role in establishing a thriving research and innovation ecosystem. As a provider of services, we support the sharing and reutilization of data for both public and private data partners. 

 

Additionally, we are committed to becoming a key contributor to the European Data Spaces, outlined in the European Commission's data strategy. By harnessing the potential of data, we aim to accelerate Luxembourg's economic, ecological, and societal transitions in smarter and more sustainable ways.

 

We are fast-growing, from 7 initial employees in 2022 to 35 in December 2023, we have grown to a team of 63 by June 2024.


We are seeking to strengthen our technical documentation across all our organizations.

 

As a Principal Solution Architect, you will play a key role in the improvement and innovation of Information Technology (IT) solutions in our organization and be part of a dynamic agile team focused on delivering related high-quality services in the various data domains in our focus.


We are looking for an experienced Principal Solution Architect to lead the design and implementation of multiple large-scale data projects. This role involves strategic oversight and technical leadership, ensuring that our data solutions are innovative, scalable, and aligned with organizational goals. You will participate in multiple European Union (EU) funded projects, such as ICUDATA4EU, Genomics Data Infrastructure, TEHDAS2 and Health Data Access Body direct grant projects.

What you will do


Strategic Solution Design and Architecture:


  • Develop and oversee high-level and detailed solution architectures for a portfolio of data projects.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and compliant with relevant regulations.
  • Create and maintain architectural blueprints and documentation.


Technical Leadership and Mentorship:


  • Provide strategic technical guidance and leadership to development teams.
  • Mentor and develop other architects and technical staff.
  • Develop and ensure adherence to architectural standards.


Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:


  • Work closely with senior stakeholders, including executives, product owners, service owners and project managers, to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making.


EU project participation


  • Act as work package or task lead in EU projects that require architectural input.
  • Represent LNDS in EU project-related international meetings and conferences as required.


Technology Strategy and Evaluation:


  • Evaluate and propose appropriate technologies and tools for various data projects.
  • Develop and maintain a technology roadmap aligned with organizational goals.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends in data management and data governance


Risk Management and Compliance:


  • Identify potential risks and develop comprehensive mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and privacy in all solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations.


Documentation and Best Practices:


  • Document all aspects of the solution architecture.
  • Establish and promote best practices for solution architecture and data management.



Who you are:



  • BSc or MSc in a scientific, technological, or engineering discipline related to computer science, information technology, or computing. 
  • 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in IT with extensive experience as a Solution Architect, with a proven track record in leading large-scale data projects.
  • Familiar with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), particularly around Product Ownership and SCRUM.
  • Proficient in at least one technology stack, preferably covering front-end and back-end.
  • Experience with TOGAF, ArchiMate or other Enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Proven experience/participation in EU projects is a plus.
  • Knowledge of EU regulations, such as DGA, EHDS, AI Act or Data Act is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • You have critical thinking, you are adaptable, flexible and you can accept and manage changes in the workplace.
  • You have cultural intelligence and diversity consciousness.
  • Excellent communication skills in English. 
  • Working knowledge of one of Luxembourg’s official languages (French, German or Luxembourgish) is a plus.
